PTA Highlights

Dear Riverside Families,

We are just over a week away from the 38th Annual Riverside Run on Saturday, May 13th!  The extended forecast looks great, so please be sure to register if you haven't already.  We are still looking for volunteers to help make it a successful event.  The Riverside Run is one of our most important fundraisers and there are many fun ways to get involved, so please sign up today.

Speaking of running, our Health & Wellness volunteers did a great job encouraging students to get moving and stay active during Fitness Week.  Monday's recess stations were the perfect way to tune up for next Saturday's Fun Run, and it was wonderful to see so many people walking and biking to school on Wednesday.  Please note that the Bike Rodeo was rescheduled for Wednesday, May 10th.

Lastly, the school will email families with Field Day team color assignments today, and Field Day T-shirts are available for purchase on rivpta.org now through May 13th.

Calendar reminders for the next several weeks include:

May 10 – Bike Rodeo & Fitness Equipment Swap Display
May 12 – CSC Meeting (for those who have RSVP'd)
May 13 – Riverside Run
May 22 – Spring PTA General Meeting (more details below)
May 26 – Early Release
May 29 – Schools Closed, Memorial Day
May 31 – Volunteer Tea & Recognition
June 6 – Deadline for Ordering School Supplies
June 8 – School Art Show
June 12 – Field Day (Rain date is June 15)

Have a great weekend!

EARTH MONTH WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

A sincere THANK YOU to everyone in the Riverside School community for coming together to celebrate Earth Month and to all the parent volunteers who helped make Earth Week such a success last week! Together we...

  • Diverted 95+ lbs of used/old batteries, 338 lbs of textiles, 340 lbs of plastic film & 90 strands of holiday lights from landfills
  • Reused plastics from our school lunchroom and the Riverside community to create our beautiful Trash-To-Treasure Mural
  • Partnered with Quiet Yards Greenwich, Old Greenwich Honey, and the PTA Garden Committee to organize a fabulous program of activities in the Green Tent during Earth Week
  • Explored green initiatives and efforts through STEM fair projects
  • Partnered with the Health & Wellness Committee in a "New or Nearly New Sports Equipment Swap" during fitness week.

Congratulations to the GREEN STEM Fair project winners! Keep up the GREEN work!

Again thank you for going GREEN and helping take care of our planet by REDUCING, REUSING & RECYCLING!
