 Back to School Checklist

☐ If you have a Kindergartener or you are new to Riverside School, attend the PTA New Family Reception during the K & New Family Meet and Greets on Thursday, August 29th from 10:30-11:30am in front of the school. 

☐ Attend the Parade of Learners on the first day of school! Grades 1-5 students should arrive at 8:30am and Kindergarteners should meet their teachers at the K entrance at 9:10am. Please see Mr. Martin's welcome back letter for more detailed information.

☐ Return required forms sent by Principal Martin – All documents can be accessed on the school website’s “Back to School” page.

☐ Join the PTA and update your directory information. Update or create your RivPTA.org account and enter your family contact information, including your child's 2024-2025 teacher. With PTA membership, you get access to the Riverside School online directory and support our mission to enhance the Riverside School community. 

☐ Attend the PTA Volunteer Fair. Please stop by our Welcome Back Volunteer Fair in the school’s cafe Friday, August 30th from 9:00-10:30am. Sign up to volunteer for a PTA committee, purchase Riverside School apparel, say hello to Principal Martin and Assistant Principal Collette, or just catch up with fellow volunteers and friends.

☐ Review the safety procedures for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up by reading the “Rules of the Road”. Make sure to sign and return your copy to the front office. You can also sign up for daily Safety Duty volunteer shifts to help during drop-off.

☐ Get ready for Fall 2024 AFTERS - Registration will open on September 10th at 7:00am. Please note that many Afters classes tend to fill up right away, so please be sure to set up an account ahead of time on Eleyo so you can be ready for registration. 

☐ Register for the Early Morning Program if you are interested in an option for Riverside students prior to the start of the regular school day. An enrollment form and payment must be completed for each child before s/he can attend.

☐ Save the Date for Riverside's Fall Fundraiser on Friday, November 8th at the Water Club (located at 49 River Road in Cos Cob). 

☐ Add money to your child's lunch account through MySchoolBucks. If you are setting up the account for the first time, you will need your child’s school identifier, which can be found on Aspen. 

☐ Get a Riverside Red Shirt and other cool Riverside School spirit gear. You can purchase Riverside Spirit Wear at the Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 29th and the Volunteer Fair on Friday, August 30th. The online Spirit Store will be opening soon…we’ll let you know when it does!

☐ Add these upcoming dates to your calendar:

• Friday, August 30th – PTA Volunteer Fair in the cafe from 9:00-10:30am

• Thursday, September 19th (evening) – School Open House
• Monday, September 30th – School Photos Day
• Tuesday, October 1st – Virtual PTA General Meeting featuring Child Mental Health and Parenting Expert Dr. Dave Anderson, from 10:00-11:00am via Zoom
• Friday, November 8th – School Fundraiser at the Water Club (parents only)
