Thank you for making our first ever Spring Fundraising Drive a HUGE SUCCESS!
Our Riverside community showed such incredible generosity, and we are beyond grateful to everyone who contributed and helped us meet our fundraising goal! Thank you for your incredible support of the PTA's efforts to enrich every child's experience at Riverside School!

Monday, May 3rd-7th marked our weeklong Spring Fundraising Drive!  As many of you know, the PTA typically relies on its annual spring fundraisers – Pizza Bingo and the Riverside Run – to fund many of its programs and initiatives throughout the year.

In the absence of these two springtime events (which we look forward to bringing back when it is safe to do so), the Fundraising Drive aimed to highlight some of the PTA’s most critical programs and initiatives which benefit EVERY child at Riverside School, with a particular focus on:

Arts & Science Enrichment
Field Trips
The Riverside School Campus

Here is a glimpse of some of the amazing programs that have been done and are being planned for the coming school year. Please visit our Arts Enrichment Page & Science Enrichment Page for more detailed information on the various enrichment programs throughout the year.

Author Visits: Despite this very strange year, we were still able to virtually host authors Alyssa Capucilli (Kindergarten), Dan Gutman (grades 2-5), and Lauren Tarshis (grades 3-5)! Our children benefited so much from getting to ask questions of these authors, hearing them read aloud from their work, and the exposure to some new books. Ted Scheu will be making his annual visit to Riverside School virtually during poetry week (May 17-20) for our kindergarten to 4th-grade classes. This is such a favorite visit at our school, and our kids LOVE the poetry workshops they do with Ted.

Bash the Trash Experimental Orchestra & workshops (grade 2): We added this program to the science enrichment line up two years ago at the teachers' request, and it has been a huge hit, even virtually!  Click here to read more about the program. Don't miss the pictures from the event on The Riverside Reel.

Animal Embassy programs (grades K-3): This program is SUCH a huge hit with our kids, and we have every hope that we can make it happen in person next year.

Dragoons (grade 5 on May 21 - in-person outdoors!):  This is an annual colonial re-enactment that the grade 5 teachers love.  An assembly will discuss cavalry and its local history in Riverside, as well as colonial money, medicine, clothing, and games!

Eli Whitney Museum's Bird Beak Variations program (grade 3) Scheduled for June!

Virtual Field Trips:

1.  Dinosaur State Park (Grade 2 in December)
2.  Stepping Stones:  Eco Kids Unite (Kindergarten in January)
3.  Stepping Stones:  Space Matters (1st grade in February)
4.  Stepping Stones:  Innovation Station Super Skyscrapers (Kindergarten scheduled for May 10-11)

Campus Enhancements
Have you taken a peek at our beautiful garden? That project has been fully supported by our PTA dollars and allows our children to plant and collect flowers, herbs, and vegetables year-round. We are so lucky to have the space and support to keep this wonderful program going! Read more about the Garden. Check out the pictures on The Riverside Reel.

Fifth Grade Class Gift: GAGA BALL!
Given the unusual year, the PTA chose to supplement the 5th Grade Class Gift in order to make it as enduring as possible. This year's gift is especially wonderful for our kids--a GaGa Ball Pit!

None of the above would be possible without the funding support of our PTA.

THANK YOU!
